A STUMP FOR A TAIL

You can't buy loyalty, they say
     I bought it though, the other day;
You can't buy friendship, tried and true,
Well just the same, I bought that too.

I made my bid, and on the spot
Bought love and faith and a whole job lot
Of happiness, so all in all
The purchase price was pretty small.

I bought a single trusting heart,
That gave devotion from the start.
If you think these things are not for sale,
Buy a brown-eyed puppy with a stump for a tail.

GITTEL (first letter of each line)

Gone are the days when she'd come trotting in.  She'd gaze up
with loving eyes for in you she saw no sin.

Instead of turning your back on her as so many had before,
(she simply stole your heart away) each day you loved her more.

The nights between Bill and you with a pillow for her head,
she'd toss and turn until at last, she'd kick Bill out of bed.

The day she earned her C.D. , "Thank God, its done," you sighed.
You put an ad in the Guardian and shared her scores with pride!

Everytime you think of her it makes you want to cry, for the
time went by too quickly when she had to say goodbye.

Last but not least you say, "My life was n'er the same,
for I shared my life with a Rottie bitch, and GITTEL was her name."
