Ascension

                And if I go,
        while you're still here...
            Know that I live on,
     vibrating to a different measure
-behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
            You will not see me,
           so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again,
         -both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest.
            And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
              ...I will be there.

Be Still.
I picked you up
 so small and cheeky
I smiled and said, "Be still."

You dug holes in the yard
 and slinked before me
I frowned and said, "Be still."

 You took their ball
and led them on a merry chase
I chuckled and said, "Be still."

 You looked up at me
 wagging for a walk
I grinned and said, "Be still."

 You warmed my feet
 and wriggled as I read
I sighed and said, "Be still."

 You aged and still
 you jumped like a pup
I laughed and said, "Be still."

 You watched me
 for one last time
 that tail wagged
 the needle fell
 I cried and whispered,
 Be still.
