Yes, I am a Show Dog!

They asked if I’m a show dog, I heard my Mom say "No".
She said that I was better,
And didn’t need to go.

I show my family that I love them,
With hugs and kisses true,
With extra special tenderness,
When one is sick or blue.
I show my family that I care,
Almost every day,
When strangers pass by our house,
I shoo them all away.
I show my family I adore them,
When I greet them at the door,
With happy yips and wagging tail,
Who could ask for any more?
I show my family that I’m loyal,
And love them all the same,
When they make mistakes with me,
Or forget to play my favorite game.
I show my kids that I’ll protect them,
When Monsters come in the night,
I chase them all out the window,
And cuddle to ease the fright.
So I may not be a show dog,
With pretty hair and bows,
But my family, they do love me,
And it’s for them that I do show.

Is He The One?

Is he the one, that puppy there,
The one that likes to snuggle?
Can I take him with me,
To love and hug and cuddle?
Is he the one, the pup you got?
Boy! he's growing fast.
Sure that's what you wanted?
Nah, never gonna last.
Is he the one, just brought in?
They say he is too large.
Put him in the end cage,
Write down what to charge.
Is he the one, the big one there?
Yep he'll guard our house and home.
Chain him in the back yard,
He'll be ok alone.
Is he the one the angel asked,
Taking him away.
Never more to be abused,
Or in the snow to lay.
Is he the one the woman asked,
Her dogs all prancing round.
The one with none to wait for,
Well now he has been found.
Yes your the one I know it,
Go find a friend or three.
You will all be mine now,
Come cross the bridge with me

A DOG OWNERS PRAYER

O Lord don't let me once forget
How I love my trusty pet ---
Help me learn to disregard
canine craters in my yard,
Show me how to be a buddy
even when my sofa's muddy,
Don't allow my pooch to munch
postal carriers for lunch,
Shield my neighbor's cat from view'
guide my steps around the doo,
Train me not to curse and scowl
when it's puppy's night to howl.
Grant I shan't awake in fear
with a cold nose in my ear'
Give me patience without end ---
Help me be "A Dog's Best Friend"!
