Puppy Love
Warm places,
Familiar smells,
We're near sleep.
I look at you,
So calm and serene,
I smile,
And turn off the light.
To the Dogs
A poem to my friends on one cold night.
You are my furry brother
You have comforted me on many a lonely night
Your soft wet nose against my cheek
The tickle of your kisses
Curled together on a blanket
You who stood by me
Who were ever my friend
I hope with my heart
This will never end
A Walk
Duke's first, and seemingly only, attempt at poetry.
Park, park!
Beautiful smells...
Oh, thank you, thank you!
Here, let me lick your face, slurp, slurp...
Whatsat?
A...
SQUIRREL!
Squirrel, squirrel!
What are you doing?
No, no...
Don't pull on my leash -- there's a rodent out there!
I'm going to pull harder... harder...
I'm free!
Run, run, run to the fuzzy critter! Ha!
Bark, oh, bark bark bark bark bark!
Huh?
Wait! Don't put my leash back on...!
Please, please, it was a squirrel...
Oh, well...
Sidewalk, sidewalk!!!
