LOVABLE LABS

                               by Anne Gricks

We put a bathtub in the yard
And filled it full of water
Our Bowser Girl, she loves to swim
Just look what Duder taught her.

They play all day and evenings too
                        Just jumpin in and out
They both were born with water legs
Of that there is no doubt.

The Bowse, she jumps in belly first
And lays down on her tummy
The Dude is just a bit reserved
He thinks his friend is funny.

Dude's older now and acts his age
                        But Bowse, a playful pup
He tries to get her to slow down
                        Because he can't keep up.

Dude's our Boy, his color Black
                        The Bowser Girl is Brown
                        Dude's the loving Gentle dog
                        But Bowser, she's a clown.

Together thay make quite a team
                        Can't fathom life without them
But if you want real "doggy smiles"
Just say "YOU TWO GO SWIM."

         BUSTER THE COWDOG

by Ted Moomaw

Pound for pound he’s tough as they come.
As a cow fighting dog, Buster is one.
He has a heart as big as a truck.
In the leg department he had no luck.

The dog had character right from the start.
One thing he is not short of is “smart”.
Smart is different than common sense
as you can see when he runs under the fence.

He doesn’t throw much of a scare into the herd.
The cattle consider him more of a nerd.
The chances he takes get him into a pinch.
When he barks and bites they don’t move an inch.

When the cattle break right down the alley,
to Buster it looks like an avalanche in a valley.
One of those hooves would hit like a sledge,
but Buster just loves living on the edge.

What he lacks in size, he makes up in try.
When he gets stepped on it would make you cry.
Sometimes Buster can be a real pain
but he’ll chase cattle even in the rain

Surely his bark is worse than his bite.
He doesn’t scare a cow but hopes he might.
He has no respect for a cow that balks.
I saw him bite an old heifer’s hocks..

When she kicked him he rolled like a log.
With legs six inches longer, he’d be a cowdog.
If you want some good entertaining fun,
watch this little Dachshund on the run.
