THE GREAT  DEBATE

                             by Ray Bock

I must admit, I favor cats
they like to chase those "mickey" rats
they would even go to sea
and de-"rat" my room for me
All my dog will do is bark
and wag his tail and walk the park
in and out, he always goes
then gooses me with his cold nose
                        Cats are independent, yes
                        and this is anybody's guess
how they sleep so long each day
then wake, and eat, and play, play, play
I would rather be a cat
cause I've walked where my dog's been at
                        it didn't smell like roses
and my cats turned up their noses
I think cats have it the most
but wait! My chair's a scratching post?
I hiss and stomp my feet at "kitty"
for me and my "stuff" there is no pity
                        "GET AWAY" you stupid cat
outside is now where you're at!
I slam the door and pet my dog
man's best friend, we get along
I pick up FIDO for a cuddle
then I look down and see the puddle
I open the door to throw him out
the cat comes in without a doubt
Either way I guess I lose
cats or dogs, which one to choose?

OUR DOG'S BEST FRIEND IS OUR CAT

                                By Jim Garman

So much for our dog being man's best friend,
his time spent with our cat knows no end.
He lets the cat eat his dog food,
they get along so very good.
They even lie on the ground together,
under the picnic table in stormy weather.
That dog does not chew on the cat,
I guess that she appreciates that.
Dog and cat, side by side,
sleepin' together,  the cat don't hide.
Seems like they never are apart,
it's been that way right from the start.
It's so strange to see that dog and cat,
sleeping together on the same old mat.
You wouldn't think that they'd be such friends,
but I guess that's something that just depends,
on how much food our dog has in his dish,
and if he'll let that cat just have her wish.
Somehow that's the way it always turns out,
and it's too bad our dog does not like trout.
