Wherever We Are
Wherever we are they are always there,
So many the count of hearts we have shared.
Not one more precious than the other,
The love they each shared our hearts would smother.
Its blessed we are to have known each one
So sorely missed when their time here was done.
But had we not known them so much would be missed,
The truest of love shown with each sloppy kiss.
A clown at our feet when its humor we need,
A friend at our side when we stand in defeat.
And tho their space is filled with their memory,
The space left unfilled will still hold so many.
Wherever we are they are always there,
Of those gone before we’re always aware.
For deep in our hearts we hold them by will,
Not willing to give up a heart that’s been stilled.
But a heart that is strong now stands at our feet
Filling his own space in our hearts with each beat.
To limit ourselves to just one in our lives,
How tragic the heart that’s of such a small size.
To allow only one for such a short time
Is to cheat yourself of the best friends you can find.
Wherever we go they’re always there
So willing they are, their hearts to share.
Sad is the heart that can’t find its way
For the joy of a dog brightens each day.
Never to many, never enough,
With a friend by your side the worlds not so rough.
Loneliness need never be our destiny
For the dog is our friend and always will be.

Will You Love Me Like My Dog Does?
You say that you love me, more than anything on earth,
Now let’s check out that statement and see what it’s worth!
Will you come when you’re called without hesitation?
Or turn a deaf ear while you watch television.
Will you sit beside me to snuggle and cuddle?
Or sit in your chair excersizing your “snore” muscles.
Will you eat what you’re fed without any complaints?
Or grump under your breath, “A cook, you ain’t!”
When in the bathroom will you not leave the lid up?
Or should I put you outside to go with the pup.
When I’m upset will you sympathize with me?
Or will it be his paw not your hand on my knee.
When I leave the house will you beg me to stay?
Or smile to yourself, “I’ve got the whole day!”
When I’m so sick I can’t raise my head,
Who will I see sitting there by my bed?
When I’m alarmed in the night by sounds that I hear,
Who’ll be the first to chase away the fear?
If to these questions you answer correctly
Then you have a chance, but I’ll tell you directly!
No human on earth can boast to possess
The love a dog gives with such completeness.
The love in their eyes never falters, you see,
Where humans have a fault, themselves first to be.
Will you love me like my dog does faithful and true
And always be there when I need you?
If you can answer these questions on the positive side
Then my life by your side I’ll be glad to reside.
Just one more thing before we end this debate….
If you chase your tail, you’re out the front gate!!

Wompus Kitty!
I bought this pup to be my best friend,
To stay by my side till one of us ends.
Now I fear I’ll be the first one to go
For unknown emotions he pulls from me so!
I envisioned a picture of a dog calm and cool
Well, that bubbles popped, my shoe’s full of drool!
His surprise on the floor, well I near broke my neck!
Just what does he have against using the deck?
He’s got it all backwards, he comes in not goes out
To my dismay as I sputter and shout!
To take a step backwards without looking first
Brings a shriek of pure pain your eardrums would burst!
My heart skips two beats, I feel almost faint
As the sound travels my spine and into my brain.
I give him his food, the best to be bought
But he wants what I have and leaves his to rot!
I try to eat while two eyes anticipate,
Oh well here, I can stand to lose weight.
I want to sit down to relax just a minute,
Guess who claimed my chair and won’t let me in it!
Laundry I’m folding and then hear myself swear
As we chase through the house to retrieve my underwear!
I call back the breeder with my list of complaints
For she promised a good dog, let me tell you he ain’t!
She chuckles quite often as I tell of my trials,
No humor I find, I think my sanity quite vital.
But in between giggles she gives wise advice
To teach this wompus kitty to grow up quite nice.
I took her advice and now I’m full of pride
For the pup has learned well to behave at my side.
He’ll learn even more as time goes along,
The ties we’re now making are growing so strong.
Patience and knowledge a requirement to be,
A breeders advice, salvation for me.
If to my story you tend to relate
Then talk to a breeder for they’ll tell you straight.
They know quite well how to tame wompus kitty’s,
To quit in defeat would be such a pity.
I found it to be as a child must be taught,
Now has this pup popped my bubble? No, he has not.

~ Your Special Angel ~
We feel so alone when tragedy strikes
Tho friends are around, even some we don’t like.
They mean well and some are really sincere
But when they are gone there is one standing near.
He wears a fur coat and stands on four legs,
He watches you closely as his tail slowly waves.
He knows something’s wrong tho he doesn’t understand.
He tries to give comfort as he gently licks your hand.
His eyes search yours with intense tenderness
His paw on your knee with such gentleness.
Your tears he will wash from your face shamelessly
For to ease your pain is his only plea.
To see you in pain puts him in pain to
As he tries so hard his love to show you.
Your “Special Angel” you have by your side
He’ll sooth your soul and to peace be your guide.
He may wear a fur coat and stand on four legs
But only you may see wings he softly waves.
He engulfs you with love to carry you through,
Wrapped in his wings shown only to you.
He’s there when others have all disappeared
You’re never alone, he’ll always be near.
Silently waiting and watching to see
A smile on your face, then content he will be.
