Rock Me to Silence…
Your eyes are so misty, your hand trembles so,
We’re rocking in silence in the chair I love so.
Before my eyes close let me speak of my life
For a book can be written in the glow of my eyes.
Such care you have given most dogs can’t boast,
With love I’ve been showered your gentle hands on my coat.
Not once in my life did I ever harbor fear
For my protector, my Mom was always so near.
In sickness you’re there never leaving my side,
The worry, the fear shining bright in your eyes.
As my body aged adjustments you made
To make my life easy, such understanding you gave.
I remember my life, so happy, so sweet
Since the day I was born and you chose me to keep.
Now the vets at the door his bag in his hand,
His head is hung low, in silence he stands.
I hear the snubs of your crying, I sense your deep fear
But don’t worry Mom, I know you’re right here.
Tho I fear the darkness, I must go alone,
You know without saying I’ll so miss my home.
I’ll miss you so Mom when I’m not at your feet
And will anxiously wait until again we will meet.
I want you to know that I’ve not one tiny regret
For I have the best Mom any dog could get!
Just grant me one favor before I have to go…
Would you rock me to silence in the chair I love so?

Serenade of Angels
In the stillness of the night
With stars in the heavens shining bright.
If we but listen closely we can hear
A choir of angels singing near.
So beautiful the chorus heard
Like no other heard on earth.
In tune with angels we hear now
Angelic barks and even howls
Join in the chorus sung so sweet
As they sit round the angels feet.
The gentle breeze of wings in flight
Brings unseen voices close at night.
The message brought of peace and love
A heavenly gift from far above.
How sweet to hear among the chorus
Voices of pets who’ve gone before us.
There is one I hear so clear
The voice of one I held so dear.
Its peace he brings, his message sung
As the serenade of angels has begun.
Listen close can you hear now
Angelic barks and even howls.
With open minds and open hearts
There’s no mistaking howls and barks
Mixed with voices sung by angels
In the clear of night with stars like spangles.
Listen close and you’ll hear to
A song that’s sung meant just for you.

Shadows of Sorrows
In the distance are those just out of our reach,
Those we so want with a barrier to breach.
Try as we might with our hearts and our souls
To keep those gone before who’ve crossed the rainbow.
Shadows before us so near yet so far,
Our attempt is so futile like reaching for stars.
They dance before us like shadows of night,
The moans of the wind bring their voices in flight.
They live in our minds; we’re still touched by their love
As shadows of sorrow creep down from above.
Their memories still sharp, our hearts still in pain
In the loss that we feel of those we can’t regain.
Touched by a hand, retrieved to above
On wings of pure white like those of a dove.
Sadness and sorrow is not theirs to be
For sadness and sorrow is ours, you and me.
A hole in our heart, on our soul a new scar
For a love out of reach, so near yet so far.
But touch them we may with the love we still hold
For the strength of our love can cross the rainbow.
When shadows of sorrow creep in from the night
The tears shed in pain may hide from our sight
The light of a love that was ours in their life
A light that has dimmed now gone from our sight.
Hold tight to the memory and the love given free
For the day of reunion is still yet to be.
A time when shadows of sorrows no longer exist
As the light of our loved ones break free the dark mist.
