In My Eyes
In my eyes, they are so beautiful,
All God’s creatures that are so mystical.
Their trust in man seems born in them,
Innocent as babies, they come to us then.
In my eyes, we should never abuse
God’s little creatures for His favor we’ll lose.
A vessel of the purest love to be found
Offered in silence without any bounds.
In my eyes, there’s peace we will know
If we but let them, they sooth our souls.
They’re ever faithful when others are cold,
Even offer their lives against those who are bold.
In my eyes, our Lord saw our needs,
He saw our torment and heard our pleas.
Life’s not kind, we needed a friend
To be true and to love us right to the end.
In my eyes, the dog is his blessing,
No questions, no lies, just love never-ending.
Our desperate prayers have already been answered
For the dog’s eyes reveal, His peace ever after.

It’s Been a Bad Day!
I woke up this morning from a fitful night’s sleep,
Just couldn’t rest counted thousands of sheep!
Don’t know what’s wrong, just nothing is right,
Even old Pacer in his sleep had a fight.
He’s grouchy and cranky just as I am today
But he better walk soft and stay out of my way!
As I drink my coffee he stares holes in me
And ever so often growls a complaint I can’t see.
Licks his chops like he’s hungry tho his bowls full of food,
Stop begging me, Pacer, I’m not in the mood!
Let me drink my coffee and get my head straight,
Whatever you want it surely can wait!
Tired of his grumps I throw his butt in the yard,
Return to my coffee and a doughnut that’s hard.
The whole day was crazy as crazy could be,
Not one thing went right the whole day for me!
Old Pacer he followed still as grumpy as I
Matched my every move even sighed when I’d sigh.
After hours with this mimic things began to be funny,
By the end of the day things began to look sunny.
Each time our eyes met I saw the devil in there,
My tormenter today with his dog grin I swear!
By the end of the day I knew one thing for sure…
Old Pacer, my shadow, my bad mood has cured.
He was only sharing what he sensed from me,
Whatever my mood, he matches you see.
Through him I saw myself, the grouch of the day
As he mimics my grumps and sighs that I made.
So I smile at my old man and he smiles right back,
He knows what he’s done and he gave me no slack.
Yes, it’s been a bad day that he’s helped me through,
For no one knows me better, no not even you.
My hero today as so many days before,
Content with his triumph as he lays there and snores.

It’s Been Long Enough!
My how quiet the house is today.
It’s been that way since you went away.
I look at your bed, your bowl, all your stuff,
And I think to myself, it’s been long enough!
Yes, it was “me” sent you out there to show
And yes, “I” said to a handler you’d go.
But the house is so quiet without you its bare,
I think to myself as I see a tuft of your hair.
You’re such a good dog in every possible way,
I just can’t wait till you’re back home to stay!
Didn’t think I would miss you, no, not this much!
You’re so cute with your antics and such.
You’ve won your title!! The call just came in,
But your handler says “special” this dog for he’ll win!
More time from me, I think to myself
But neither can I see putting you on the shelf.
You’re gorgeous, you’re perfect, you’re all you can be!
My special baby, I so want you with me.
But I guess we’ll try this “special” thing
Then you fly home as tho you had wings!
I’ll be right here with arms open wide
For my little boy, my source of pride.
You go ahead now and you strut your stuff
Then hurry on home, it’s been long enough!
