A Sweet Melody
A sweet melody I heard today,
The sound of puppy’s so hard at play.
So happy are they not a care in the world
As they wrestle and romp, pull tails that are
curled.
Noisy, like children, with their yaps and their
howls.
They pounce and bounce, even try viscous growls.
Such innocence possessed by these bundles of
energy
Will stay through their lives as they trust so
many.
It won’t be long till they’ll have new homes
With prayers they are loved, not left to roam.
With care they’ll grow to be perfect companions,
Loving pets and even some become champions.
A champion on paper is but just a title
But a champion of hearts is much more vital.
Inside each furball out there rolling around
Is a heart full of love nowhere else can be found.
To be cherished by a human is what we hope to
see,
A good life you give them is our only plea.
When you come shopping to look at these pups,
Look past their cuteness and see them grown up.
I’ll be looking at you with most critical eyes,
To send a pup to harm would be my demise!
A puppy’s so cute and has such cute ways
But as they grow you’ll have many hair-pulling
days!
Will you have patience and guide them to see
The wonderful dog I know they can be?
A sweet melody I’m hearing today
With all these pups so hard at play.
I pray for the guidance for good homes somehow,
To be spared the nightmares of pitiful howls.
When buying a pup use your heart and your mind
For all pups are cute, its best you are blind!
Remember my eye is on you, not the pup,
If I like what I see, then the pup I’ll give
up.
But I’ll check with you often and listen to see
If the pup is still singing his sweet melody.

All That I Am
I have two eyes with which I can see
This wondrous world God gave to us free.
I have two ears with which I can hear
The sounds of nature all 'round us so clear.
I have a mouth with which I can eat
The food of life that tastes so sweet.
I have a nose with which I can smell
Scents in the earth it holds so well.
I have a mind with which I can think
Even the power for our minds to link.
I have a back, which has the strength
To carry your burdens to any length.
I have a tail with which to wave
And acknowledge the happiness you just gave.
I have four legs with which I can run
As fast as the wind when you say the word "come".
I have a fur coat with which to stay warm
That feels soft to you against your arm.
But more than the rest I have a heart
Bursting with love for you since our start.
To you I give everything that I am
To serve only you in my short life span.
Happiness for me is to share my existence
With one who loves me with such persistence.
All that I am, I give freely to you
In return all I ask is you love me to.
My life, my donation should yours be in peril,
My steps follow yours, by your side ever faithful.
You have my trust, my faith and my love,
You have everything I am, a gift from above.

An Addiction for Life
How many times have you heard yourself say,
“I’ll never have another when he passes away.”
Then the day comes you find yourself alone,
When stillness and loneliness invade your home.
It’s to late for you, for you have been hooked
On a drug that’s called “love” by a four-legged
crook.
He’s invaded your home and stolen your heart,
Left a pain in your soul when he had to part.
The hole he left empty it just grew and it grew
Until you got your “fix” another dog for you.
Now you’re saying it again, “I’ll never have
another,
They tie one down so and a pup’s such a bother.”
Empty words, my friend, I’ve said them myself
Then succumbed to the “high” from a furry little
elf.
Once hooked on this drug of loving a dog
The addictions for life tho in our dialog,
We profess to be strong, able to kick this habit,
But in truth life with no dog, well, we just
won’t have it!
The circle we have made so many times we’re just
dizzy
As others we know think we’re totally crazy!
A dog is the one thing we have just for us,
We find we’re dependent on their love and their
trust.
The feelings they give us as tho God’s we are
Lifts our spirits so high we can touch stars.
They give us the “fix” we need most in life,
The love and the trust we see shine in their
eyes.
This furry little crook like a thief in the night
Stole our hearts and became our addiction for
life.
