I Can’t See The Words

At times when I write I can’t see the words,
My eye’s full of tears and each heartbeat hurts.
My stories in verse are all true you see
As I tell of life’s pain that visit’s you and me.
Some are funny, but most are so sad
And then there are those that make me so mad!
The nature of man can be so viscous and not just to pets
There are those who prove daily they have no respect.
Then there are those who share their very souls
With the pet they love dearly and so closely hold.
It’s the people who care I relate to the most
As I try to do justice to the pain that they host.
I can’t see the words; I must make several tries
For I’ve been where they’re at and the tears I can’t fight.
The love shared with pet’s compares to the bond between humans,
Family members they are without the shortcomings.
We don’t have to change ourselves just to please them
As humans require to justify their selfish whims.
In all of my years on this earth so cold
I’ll never understand those people so bold!
Why can’t they see what’s in front of their face,
The love from your pet you just can’t replace!
For where else can you find one that loves only you,
Who asks nothing in return but love from you to.
Oh yes, there are times I can’t see the words
When I try to write of an animal’s worth.
I’d rather be with them than most humans I know
As true feelings from them they don’t always show.
You’ll find me in the most obvious place,
A cat in my lap, a dog licking my face.
I understand and I hope you do to
What having a pet really can do for you.
The peace they can bring with the love they will share
Make the bluest of times somehow seem fair.

Will You Love Me Like My Dog Does?

You say that you love me more than anything on earth,
Now lets check out that statement and see what its worth!
Will you come when you’re called without hesitation?
Or turn a deaf ear as you watch television.
Will you sit beside me to snuggle and cuddle?
Or sit in your chair exercising your “snore” muscles.
Will you eat what you’re fed without any complaints?
Or grump under your breath “a cook, you ain’t!”
When in the bathroom will you not leave the seat up?
Or should I put you outside to go with the pup.
When I’m upset will you sympathize with me?
Or will it be his paw not your hand on my knee.
When I leave the house will you beg me to stay?
Or smile to yourself “I’ve got the whole day!”
When I’m so sick I can’t raise my head
Who will I see sitting there by my bed?
When I’m alarmed in the night by sounds that I hear
Who’ll be the first to chase away the fear?
If to these questions you answer correctly
Then you have a chance but I’ll tell you directly.
No human on earth can boast to possess
The love a dog gives with such completeness.
The love in their eye’s never falters, you see,
Where humans have a fault, themselves first to be.
Will you love me like my dog does, faithful and true
And always be there when I need you?
If you can answer these questions on the positive side
Then my life by your side I’ll be glad to reside.
Just one more thing before we end this debate…..
If you chase your tail – you’re out the front gate!
