One dark and icy winter
night
as a truck went speeding
by.
A dog was thrown to the
street below
Alone and left to die.
Though racked with pain &
numb with cold
He tried to lift his head.
He finally moved his aching
limbs
Many thought the dog was
dead.
In pain & scared he limped
away
Into the cold dark night
At last he crawled beneath
a deck
To end his frightful plight.
The family that lived above
him
Reluctantly took him in.
They didn't know he'd be
their dog.
That a bond would soon begin.
Seven and a half fleeting
years
With love and loyalty shared
Karla Phaneuf & her
family
Were the only ones who cared.
And now his walk is slower
His eyes aren't quite as
bright
He's too tired to chase
the water
He has lost his will to
fight.
He's taught his family well
these years
That an old dog can be the
best.
A "BUDDY' he is, and will
ever be
Even after he's layed to
rest.
Karla's family has been mighty
Blessed
By this 'Buddy' from above.
When he returns to Rainbow
bridge
He will leave behind his
love.

Now I lay me down to sleep,
The king-size bed is soft and deep..
I sleep right in the center groove
My human being can hardly move!
I've trapped her legs, she's tucked in tight
And here is where I pass the night
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Till morning comes and "I want food!"
I sneak up slowly to begin
my nibbles on my human's chin.
She wakes up quickly,
I have sharp teeth-
I'm a puppy, don't you see?
For the morning's here
and it's time to play
I always seem to get my way.
So thank you Lord for giving me
This human person that I see.
The one who hugs and holds me tight
And shares her bed with me at night!
